思索死刑
《思索死刑》(法語:Réflexions sur la guillotine;英語:Reflections on the Guillotine),是法國作家阿爾貝·加繆的一部作品,寫於1957年。在文章中,加繆對廢除死刑持不妥協的立場。加繆的觀點與切薩雷·貝卡里亞和薩德侯爵的觀點相似,後者也認為,由國家預謀和實施的謀殺是最糟糕的[1]。加繆說,他的論點不是基於對被定罪者的同情,而是基於邏輯和經證實的統計數字。[1]

Capital punishment is the most premeditated of murders, to which no criminal’s deed, however calculated, can be compared. For there to be an equivalency, the death penalty would have to punish a criminal who had warned his victim of the date on which he would inflict a horrible death on him and who, from that moment onward, had confined him at his mercy for months.
