他在1970年代加入演員行列，80年代成為少女偶像。1990年憑《Drugstore Cowboy》贏得獨立精神獎最佳男主角，2006年憑《撞車》贏得獨立精神獎最佳男配角。
早年
編輯本名Matthew Raymond Dillon，父母為Union Camp銷售經理及肖像畫家Paul Dillon和主婦Mary Ellen。[1][2]迪倫在六兄弟姊妹中排第二，有一名姊妹及四名兄弟；弟弟凱文·迪倫[3]也是演員，在《色慾荷里活》中演出，更因此獲提名艾美獎及金球獎。
