歷史

東肯塔基大學最早的前身是1874年在里奇蒙建立的中心大學。1901年，受困於資金困難和入學人數不足的中央大學和中心學院合併。1906年3月21日，政府頒佈法令，設立東肯塔基州立第一師範學校[6]1906年師範學校委員會選定之前中心大學的校園作為新學院的校址，也就是如今東肯塔基大學的校園所在。

1922年東肯塔基州立第一師範學校改名為東肯塔基州立師範學校和教師學院。1930年改名為東肯塔基州立教師學院。1966年起正式定名為東肯塔基大學。
